Paradigms and Demographics: Morning Edition - Ferguson in Perspective Part II

Posted by Rich Kozlovich

Sergeant Kevin Ahlbrand, president of the Missouri Fraternal Order of Police, says the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown has been vilified in the press and by politicians before the facts are known.

Malik Shabazz, the president of Black Lawyers for Justice, says he went to the troubled city of Ferguson "as a man and a father figure" because he and other men need to "step in" and fill a leadership gap. Shabazz told CNN that the protesters, many of them young men, "are not just upset about Michael Brown. These young men have no fathers. These young men -- there's a social decay here. There's a police brutality issue around the country...It's a big problem."

My TakeAnd just exactly whose fault is it “these young men have no fathers”? While acknowledging a level of responsibility for this rioting, violence and thievery is due to the failure of parenting in black America, this guy bounced from wall to wall in an effort to ameliorate the blame from where it completely belongs –in the black community itself! The social structure in black America, as it exists today, was created by leftists who encouraged - and promoted - the disintegration of the family through destructive welfare programs, and the race hustlers – like him – benefit from this nightmare or hate, poverty, misery and suffering.

But blacks chose to accept it, and not only do they continue to accept it - they demand it - in spite of decades of evidence of the destructive power of generational welfare. And the leadership in the churches – where all politics in black America starts - didn’t stand up to be counted to fend this off. We really need to get this. Dystopia is the legacy of the left, and the “accepted” leadership in the black community is morally defective!

The question left to ask is this. What possesses blacks in America to continue to accept being on government dole as a way of life, and refuse to create prosperity in their own community, as all the other minority ethnic groups have done? Handouts, special privileges and set asides will not fix fundamental social failures. It has to start with the family! If these race hustlers were really concerned about their brethren they would focus on ending single parent families and re-instilling Judaic Christian principles in their community. But that won’t happen because the hustlers would be out of business.

The most poisonous "-ism" now infecting Ferguson, Missouri, is not virulent racism. It's viral narcissism. Over the past two weeks, the impoverished St. Louis County suburb has become a magnet for self-absorbed publicity seekers of all colors and agendas. Perhaps the most repulsive species on display in Ferguson is the Journalisto Vanitatis. This breed of egotistical East-Coast reporters can be easily identified by its ever-present appendages: a smartphone and smart glasses. For the J.V., the story is all about "me, me, me!" Huffington Post reporter Ryan Reilly and Washington Post reporter Wesley Lowery were among the first and most prominent Beltway journos to parachute into the Ferguson protests.

The late media critic Edwin Diamond once notably quipped that to the American news media, "10,000 deaths in Nepal equals 100 deaths in Wales equals 10 deaths in West Virginia equals one death next door." When it comes to race relations, a similar rule applies. 400,000 civilians have been murdered in Darfur, but one death of a black man in Missouri, allegedly due to white police brutality, is infinitely more newsworthy. The national media are currently obsessed with Michael Brown's killing by a policeman in Ferguson, Missouri, just as they obsessed over Trayvon Martin's killing in Sanford, Florida.

Attorney General Eric Holder told Ferguson, Mo., residents on Wednesday that he could relate to their suspicion of police officers, hoping to calm tensions in the St. Louis suburb rocked by repeated clashes between cops and protesters. “I understand that mistrust,” Holder said at a local community college, according to excerpts of his remarks. “I am the attorney general of the United States. But I am also a black man. I can remember being stopped on the New Jersey turnpike on two occasions and accused of speeding.” President Obama dispatched Holder to Ferguson to meet with civil rights leaders, students, police officers and other members of the Missouri community affected by the shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown. He also met in private with Brown's parents.

My Take – Right on Eric! I have been harassed by cops too - and for fifty years - ever since I started driving. They accused me of speeding, and they made those claims lots of times! Sure….I was guilty …..but if I had been the Attorney General they wouldn’t have stopped me! Those were clear acts of profiling because I wasn’t important enough!

The Great Racial Disconnect on Police By Ben ShapiroOn Monday, Rasmussen released a poll of Americans regarding the guilt or innocence of Officer Darren Wilson, the police officer who shot unarmed 18-year-old black man Michael Brown six times in Ferguson, Missouri. Those polls show that 57 percent of black adults think that Wilson should be found guilty of murder; 56 percent of whites, by contrast, are undecided on the matter. The latter position is the correct one. Witnesses, including one Dorian Johnson, claim that Brown was pulled over by Wilson, attacked by him and pulled into the car, ran, stopped when told to freeze by Wilson, held up his hands, and was then shot. Other witnesses — more than a dozen of them, according to local media — say that Brown attacked Wilson, went for Wilson's gun, fled before being told to stop, then charged Wilson before being shot.

Here's what we do know: Despite original media reports labeling Brown a "gentle giant," Brown and shooting witness Dorian Johnson did participate in a strong-arm robbery of a local convenience store. We know that despite original witness reports suggesting that Brown was shot in the back, he was not. We know that contemporaneous witness accounts caught on tape suggest that Brown charged at Wilson. And we know that a young black man is dead with six bullets in him at the hands of a white cop.
